CORE MANDATES OF THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The Nigerian Police Force Training And Development Department has the following primary mandates:
- It plans and coordinates all training activities in accordance with international standards.
- It is in charge of coordinating the police recruitment process.
- It organizes seminars and workshops for its senior officers in accordance with the newest policing standards, in addition to training for new recruits.
- It develops and implements training and personnel development policies.
There are three components to the Nigerian police training department: Each of the three sections, Administration, Training, and Inspectorate, is led by a Commissioner of Police, while the department is led by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG)
Previously, the Nigerian Police Force’s activities were managed by the Ministry of Interior, but we’ve had several Presidents since then who restructured the Federal ministries at their discretion, and as such the management of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) is done by the Ministry of Police Affairs.
